Rebuilding Leopold

Planning and delays

The new area will be a mixture of homes for rent and for sale - some of which will be shared ownership.

Local Residents worked alongside landlords to select the developers - Countryside Properties.

The plans was subject to numerous planning delays as Leopold Residents insisted they knew their area - better than Local Authority planners.

The designs were finally given planning approval in December 2007, however the economic conditions in the country during 2008 has meant that it has not been possible to commence the building work yet.

The White blocks in Shelmerdine Close and Ackroyd Drive which have been victim to bad design, poor Maintenance and vandalism for many years, will be totally demolished as part of the Leopold Regeneration.
This was agreed by the Residents themselves and the design of the new areas was agreed with local residents as part of the ongoing consultation process
